Job Stanwood was an original settler of Bar Harbor, Maine
Welcome to the Stanwood Family History & Genealogy Pages!
My grandmother, Goldie Simpson, loved to talk about her Stanwood heritage. She was the 4th great granddaughter of Job Stanwood, who was famous for losing his left arm in the battle of Louisburg. More amazing, despite his disability, he left the comfort of city living in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and about 1760 traveled to Eden (now known as Bar Harbor) Maine where he and cousin Abraham Somes were listed as the first settlers.
These pages are devoted to Stanwood History and Genealogy, including documentation and sources where available. Also included are the associated names of Bradstreet, Bursley, Day, Gravdahl, Scott, Simpson, Sisco, Uphouse, Veland, White and others. If you have information to submit, or if you find an error, please email me using the link to the right. I look forward to hearing from you!
