• Notes

  Jane's maiden name is somewhat of a mystery at the time of this writing (January 2007). On a 2004 trip to Bar Harbor, the town clerk verbally provided information from the town records, and stated that Solomon Stanwood and Jane Leland married July 27, 1820. However, Ethel Stanwood Bolton's "History of the Stanwood Family in America" lists Solomon Stanwood and Jane Davidson Hamer married in 1820. It seems likely that Hamor is actually Jane's name, as the information on this line of the family (descendents of Solomon Stanwood) provided to Bolton for the Stanwood history book was largely provided by Solomon & Jane's granddaughter, the famous Cordelia Johnson Stanwood in Ellsworth, ME.
