    • The details provided in Walter's obituary give a glimpse of his life. He was a watchman of the Caldwell city water supply during World War II. "He had also worked at the Idaho Egg Producers for nine years, and had done masonry work. He was a veteran of World War I, and was a member of the Caldwell Odd Fellows Lodge No. 10."

      Photo of Walter was obtained from John L. Merkle, whose mother had it with a photo album originally owned by her cousin Mallen, husband of Caroline Uphouse (Walter’s niece).
