  • Notes
    • Vernon Cravens was remembered fondly by his cousin, Goldie (Simpson) Edwards. Quite the prankster, Vernon would put cigarettes into young Goldie's purse, attempting to get the notice (and reaction) of Goldie's mother, Susie.

At the age of 19, Vernon enlisted in the Navy, and served as a gunner on the battleship Texas. Newspaper reports state he witnessed the surrender of the German fleet and was entertained by the King and Queen of Great Britain at Buckingham palace.

Sometime after this, Vernon apparently owned a restaurant, as his cousin Goldie recalled he was undaunted by prohibition, continuing to sell alcohol in his establishment.

Vernon and his wife Hazel did not have children.
