Mrs. Southard, nee Mabel B Sampson, wife of the late Frank E Southard, well-known bath attorney, died on June 22 in Boston at her home on W. Cedar street after a long illness. Born in Readfield, Me., June 16, 1871, she was the daughter of Joseph B. Samson. She was a direct descendent of Myles Standish.
During her years in Bath, Mrs. Southard was active in the work of the Universalist church and served as president of the Cosmopolitan Club for several terms. She has lived in Boston since 1924. In her late 60s she established a real estate business renting apartments on Beacon Hill and in the Back Bay until her advancing age forced her to limit her activities a few years ago.
She leaves a daughter Frances M Southard of Boston and a brother, J. Walter Sampson of Santa Rosa, Calif.
Funeral services will be at her former home, 819 High St., now the A. F. Mayo & Son Funeral home.
