• Notes

  Melvin's obituary states he moved west in 1900. (It was actually later, as he was in Northfield for the 1905 state census.) The obituary stated he died at home in Idaho, and he was survived by a wife and three children. A quick search of the Idaho Marriage Index returned several results. One is for a Melvin D. Howe, who married Mrs. Myrtle Hurd, August 15, 1927. I was unable to locate any Howe's born in Minnesota in the 1930 census in Idaho. It is likely Melvin was taken to Minnesota for burial as he is included in the Dalby Database, with cemetery "unknown".
