  	SHOCK KILLS PGE LINEMAN ON POLE -- OREGON CITY, Dec 10 - Herbert H. Simpson, 42, West Linn, Portland General Electric company lineman, was electrocuted about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday when his head touched a bare, 11,000-volt power line as he worked on a pole at the new Globe-Union, Inc., batter plant in Oregon City. County Coroner Rayer Rilance said Simpson and two other company employees, Lyle Farran, 5417 SE 45th avenue, Portland, and Frank Galey, Canby, were checking the flow of electricity through a newly installed meter at a transformer installation on the factory grounds. Simpson had just climbed the pole when the mishap occurred. He fell about 25 feet. He was taken to Oregon City hospital by ambulance and pronounced dead on arrival. Rilance said the man apparently was killed instantly. Simpson was born December 28, 1905, and is survived by a daughter in the East, a brother and others relatives who have not been located. A journeyman lineman, he had been employed by the P.G.E. company about seven months.
