For over a quarter century, he clerked in Samuel Dinsmore's store. He married Lucinda Betts, and four children were born of this union. They were Newall Day of Shelton, Washington; Sarah Weymouth of Escondido, California; Joseph W. Day of St. Helens, Oregon; and Mary Jane of Milford."
