  • Notes
    • Calvin Stanwood was listed as the postmaster for north Woodville in 1882. He also served on the school committee. His wife, Bridgit/Betsey McDermott, died the previous year, and his son-in-law, Cyrus W. F. Kimball, was appointed executor of her estate. When Calvin died in 1884, the town assessors stated he had no personal property or estate, and had not been taxed for the preceding three years, having been a dependent parent and pensioner of his son George, who died 25 June 1864 as a result of gunshot wounds sustained while serving in Company A, Maine's 1st Heavy Artillery Unit.

According to Calvin's pension claim, he had been seriously injured and disabled about 1860 when he became entangled in the chain of a sled and was dragged a significant distance through the woods by oxen. Calvin's son George began supporting his parents by making shingles in exchange for pork, molasses, teas and other food items, and working on the "small" 100-acre family farm. When George enlisted as a Union soldier, he gave the bounty to his parents, save $20 which he kept, and sent them $10/month from his wages. One can deduce he was a kind and caring young man.
